About your Instructor Khen Hopmans

Khen was Born in Aug of 1982 in Etobicoke and was raised in the suburbs of Mississauga. Khen's father John decided to enroll him
at age 6, and his older brother in a local community center's Judo program after being a Judo student himself years prior.
With Khen and Andre both loving the discipline, hard work, and fun of combat practice a true Love of Martial Arts was Born very early on in their lives. After training around 2 years at a Karate/Kickboxing school Khen was introduced to Kung Fu at age 14
from his older Brother who recently signed up to another nearby Kung fu school. J ust after a short intro Khen knew that
Kung Fu was the system with the depth that he was looking for. With a Focus on the Internal as well as the External,
Kung Fu was very clear to be the practice with the greatest potential for personal growth.
After Studying Temple Kung Fu for almost 3 years the school unfortunately closed down.

Always gravitating towards creativity and being expressive through the arts Khen, throughout high school developed

an aptitude for Visual Arts and Drama as well as continuing his Martial Arts practice. Being an artist and a bit of a loner in high school Khen was, at times, the target of bullying. The typical cruel teenage harassment Khen had to endure did not reach his core. The deflection of the spiteful energy came from the solidity of his training in the arts of combat. In one instance Khen was charged by an egotistical angry boy in the atrium of the secondary Catholic high school. After applying a simple Kung Fu technique the boy who charged Khen was subdued, flat on his chest and unable to move within seconds.

Teachers came to separate the boys. Khen realized first hand that when an altercation can end abruptly with no one
getting hurt, it is always the most favorable outcome in any situation. Skill, Practice, and Control.

This is the Meaning of Kung Fu for Khen. Khen introduced who would later become his wife Paula to Kung Fu

and has been training with her at the Head School of All Master Marital Arts Center for 10 Years and continues to frequent the head school for tutelage under Grandmaster Augustine Ngu. Khen was inspired by one of his Childhood idols who said,

"Teach what you Love, not necessarily what you are best at. Pass down what you love".

Khen will continue to train Kung Fu as long as he is able and will strive to teach/spread Kung Fu so it can be further passed down to future Generations. "What is most appealing about training Kung Fu, beyond the Self Control, Connection of Strong Mind and Body... Is that we are training to be the protectors of those around us" -Khen

Khen competed for 3 years in local and international tournaments. From 2017 - 2019 Khen has performed very well in tournament competitions. In 2018 he qualified and was selected to represent team Canada in the USKSF World Championship. With over 20 countries enlisted he brought home 3 Silver Medals and a Gold for team Canada

Will Kung Fu teach my child to be more aggressive?
Martial arts is meant to teach discipline and respect. We encourage our students to use martial arts to learn to believe in themselves, and to work cooperatively with others. All Masters is a strong advocate for martial morality; as such, it is against our school rules to engage in aggressive behavior, both in and outside the school.
